What's at Stake

The BLM Public Lands Rule, LWCF funding, and the America the Beautiful Act all affect Washington riders' access to federal trails. Cuts to land management staffing and proposals to sell public lands would permanently diminish the places we ride, hike, and recreate.

Background

Congress is considering legislation that could facilitate the sale or transfer of federal lands. At the same time, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) — funded through offshore oil and gas leasing, not taxpayer dollars — is at risk. The America the Beautiful Act would address the multi-billion dollar maintenance backlog on public lands and reverse devastating staffing cuts. Washington's trail riders have a direct stake in these federal decisions.
