Background

Washington law restricts motor vehicles on non-motorized trails, but the rapid rise of high-powered electric motorcycles (e-motos) has outpaced clear legal definitions and consistent enforcement. Riders, hikers, and land managers are increasingly confused about what's actually legal on non-motorized trails. Evergreen supported SB 6110 in the state legislature to help clarify the legal distinction between Class 1/2 eMTBs — which belong on many non-motorized trails — and high-powered e-motos, which do not. We're also asking state legislators and local officials to direct enforcement resources toward consistently applying these rules.
