Fund the DNR Trust Land Transfer Program.

Washington DNR's Trust Land Transfer (TLT) program is one of the most effective tools for protecting recreational access on state trust lands. Ask your WA legislators to fund TLT and support DNR's 2026 recreational access priorities.

What's at Stake

Without adequate TLT funding, state trust lands that support trails and recreation can be sold for timber or development. The TLT program allows DNR to transfer high-recreation-value lands to permanent public ownership — but only when the legislature funds it.

Background

Washington DNR manages millions of acres of trust lands that support some of the state's best trail systems. The Trust Land Transfer program lets DNR convert high-recreation-value parcels to permanent recreation status — protecting them from harvest or sale. Funding TLT is one of the most direct things the legislature can do to protect trail access on state land. This is also aligned with MTS Greenway's 2026 legislative priorities for the Mountains to Sound Greenway corridor.
