This trail doubles as a maintenance perimeter road for the Lake Youngs Reservoir, which is fenced and no entry is permitted. The trail skirts around the outside of the fence, with varied scenery on the "outside" side (from suburban backyards to forested wetlands) and untouched woodland on the "inside". Aside from a few narrow sections, the trail is firm, wide, and relatively mud-free year-round. It is a multi-use trail with joggers, walkers, bikers and horse riders all sharing this trail.

This a great loop if your looking for an easy spin with the family or want to do some training without worring about cars.

How to Find It

Parking is located on SE Old Petrovisky Road at Lake Youngs Park. Follow the access trail (30 feet east of the restrooms) from the parking lot to the main trail.

Typical Conditions

Due to Lake Youngs being a watershed, water runoff through the trail is nearly constant in wet weather and typically takes a few days of nice weather to dry out. The County has been actively adding gravel to problem areas to alleviate this problem.

Turn by Turn

The trail runs along the fenceline and is easy to follow.
